Brief Description | The principles of human-computer interaction are considered in a variety of application areas which may vary from year to year. Topical subjects include virtual reality, computer supported collaborative working and video-conferencing. The module broadens students' critical perspective of current issues in human computer interaction considered from a various perspectives such as user characterisations, systems evaluation and user-centred issues with developing technologies. |

Learning Outcomes | i. Knowledge and Understanding By the end of the module, students should be able to a) critically evaluate the issues surrounding various aspects of human computer interaction such as designing for different user groups b) critically review the needs of different user types c) evaluate and synthesise user problems that arise from new technologies d) expose weaknesses in interface design through critical evaluation and propose effective solutions ii. Skills Students will use a wide range of scholastic research skills to synthesise their findings which will be disseminated through assessment. |
