Students travel to an international destination which has been prepared, by arrangement, to accommodate the needs of the module's learning outcomes through a mixture of activities which promote both academic and personal development. Such activities might include formal University/College seminars, industrial /commercial visits, social/cultural events, interaction with foreign students and staff and individual reflection. The balance of these activities may vary by destination but the emphasis will always be on purposeful student engagement within a learning environment.

Students are required to attend a number of meetings and workshops on a national culture, and that culture’s business management and business etiquette. Students are also expected to visit locations arranged by the host

A student passing this module should be able to:

1. Identify and critically analyse significant cultural differences between the business environment of the UK and that of the country or countries visited on this field trip. (PLO 3)
2. Investigate and demonstrate an awareness of key economic and political characteristics of the country or countries visited on this field trip. (PLO 2)
3. Critically reflect upon and evaluate a range of theoretical frameworks commonly employed to obtain an understanding of the opportunities and threats facing multinational companies operating in culturally diverse environments. (PLO 2,3)
4. Demonstrate intercultural understanding and reflect on the nature and the process of acquisition of this skill. (PLO 4)
5. Work effectively both independently and with others in the investigation and sharing of information likely to be critical for the preparation of expatriate assignments. (PLO 5)
6. Communicate effectively in writing for assignments and orally through group discussions, presentations and visits. (PLO 6)
