Brief Description | This module aims to analyse the organisations internal environment and the interactions that occur within this. It is designed to develop an understanding of theory, practice and policies of management in a variety of modern organisational contexts; private, public and third sectors. It does this by encouraging the development of students as critical, skilled, ethical and professional participants in their own development as potential managers. |
Indicative Syllabus | The program will cover three themes:
1.Understanding the internal organisation. Functions in organizations Structures of organisations (private, third & public sector) Management of change Culture, politics and power 2.People within the internal organisation People as individuals within organisations People and teams & networks within organisations Leadership and exercising control, authority, power & influence Approaches to managing performance & motivation, focussing on job design and results 3.The individual in organisations Skills needed to develop as an effective employee and managers within organisations |
