Brief Description

This module aims to secure students’ understanding of ICT in the primary school to a level where they might become a curriculum leader.

Indicative Syllabus

Students will critically evaluate teaching and learning approaches that characterise successful ICT teaching from a theoretical and practical perspective.

In addition to sessions focusing on planning, progression and assessment of ICT at pupil level, students will undertake some ICT teaching in a local school.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding:

1)     Have a creative and constructively critical approach towards innovation, being prepared to adapt their practice where benefits and improvements are identified

2)     Know how to design opportunities for learners to develop ICT skills.

3)     Evaluate the impact of their teaching on the progress of all learners, and modify their planning and practice where necessary.



Skills:

1)     Teach lessons and sequences of lessons across the age and ability range for which they are trained in which they:

  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources, including e-learning, taking practical account of diversity and promoting equality and inclusion;

2)  Build on prior knowledge, develop concepts and processes, enable learners to apply new knowledge, understanding and skills and meet learning objectives.
