Brief Description This module aims to secure students’ understanding of the knowledge, skills and understanding required to teach ICT in their chosen phase or Key Stage
Indicative Syllabus Students will be able to critically evaluate the range of teaching and learning approaches that characterise successful ICT teaching. Students will be introduced to a range of software commonly used within schools. They will explore how the software can be used to support Core and NON Core subjects within the National Curriculum. Individual sessions will focus planning, management, progression and assessment of ICT at pupil level. Equal opportunities (including SEN, EAL, Cultural Diversity, Gender, ECM) will also be addressed.
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding
1)       Have a creative and constructively critical approach towards innovation, being prepared to adapt their practice where benefits and improvements are identified
2)       Know the assessment requirements and arrangements for the subjects/curriculum areas in the age ranges they are trained to teach, including those relating to public examinations and qualifications.
3)       Have a secure knowledge and understanding of their subjects/curriculum areas and related pedagogy to enable them to teach effectively across the age and ability range for which they are trained.
4)       Know and understand the relevant statutory and non-statutory curricula, frameworks, including those provided through the National Strategies, for their subjects/curriculum areas, and other relevant initiatives applicable to the age and ability range for which they are trained. 



ii. Skills
1)       Plan for progression across the age and ability range for which they are trained, designing effective learning sequences within lessons and across series of lessons and demonstrating secure subject/curriculum knowledge.
2) 2) Design opportunities for learners to develop their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

Learning and Teaching Activities A mix of lectures and workshops, some tutor led, to model actual delivery strategies.
