Brief Description | This module aims to secure students’ knowledge and understanding of ICT in the primary school to a level where they might become a curriculum leader. Students will be able to provide effective learning opportunities for all pupils, with a focus on an understanding of the three principles of inclusion: setting suitable learning challenges, responding to pupils’ diverse learning needs, overcoming potential barriers to learning and assessment for individuals and groups of pupils. |
Indicative Syllabus | The majority of this module will take place in a school setting. With support students will plan, teach and assess units of work in ICT that promote good progress and outcomes by pupils in relation to the statutory requirements in ICT. They will use assessment information to inform planning and planning for differentiation. Creative and challenging approaches to the teaching of ICT will be used within a cross curricular context. |
Learning Outcomes | 1. have a secure knowledge and understanding of the statutory curriculum requirements for ICT 2. have an understanding of the underlying concepts and principles that define the distinctive nature of ICT and demonstrate a critical understanding of developments in the subject 3. have a secure knowledge of ICT and associated curriculum areas 4. know how to plan and teach well-structured, creative and challenging sequences of lessons in cross curricular units of work that promote good progress and outcomes by pupils in relation to the statutory requirements for ICT 5. recognise the benefits and challenges of cross curricular approaches to teaching and learning 6. be aware of pupils’ capabilities and their prior knowledge, and plan teaching to build on these 7. know and understand how to assess pupils’ work in ICT and know how to make use of formative and summative assessment to secure pupils’ progress 8. Be able to provide effective learning opportunities for all pupils, with a focus on an understanding of the three principles of inclusion: - setting suitable learning challenges - responding to pupils’ diverse learning needs - overcoming potential barriers to learning and assessment for individuals and groups of pupils |
