Brief Description | The module provides the student with the opportunity to gain an advanced theoretical and practical understanding of working effectively with clients within their chosen sport or exercise field. The underpinning theoretical knowledge, ethical practices and practical skills will be critically examined, evaluated and applied within the chosen sport or exercise setting. |
Indicative Syllabus | The module will examine: • The applied skills required for assessment, monitoring and development of sport or exercise clients, and a critical awareness of their appropriateness, limitations, validity and reliability. • The theoretical models and approaches used by the sport or exercise practitioner to enhance professional practice. • Professional practices for the sport and exercise practitioner that ensure ethical working conventions. • Models of reflective practice for the sport and exercise practitioner. |
Learning Outcomes | On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:-
1) Critically analyse and apply the appropriate skills and knowledge for the valid assessment, monitoring and development of the sport or exercise client.
2) Synthesise and apply the theoretical models and approaches used by the sport or exercise practitioner for enhanced professional practice.
3) Critically evaluate and apply the professional and ethical practices of the sport and exercise practitioner.
4) Critically analyse and employ models of reflective practice that facilitate professional development of the sport and exercise practitioner.
5) Employ a range of practical work skills that are relevant and essential within the field.
6) Employ models of reflective practice to facilitate professional development within the sport and exercise field.
7) Engage confidently, autonomously and competently in academic and professional communication with others.
