Brief Description This module consists of theological reflection on the exercise of faith in any workplace setting
Indicative Syllabus This module is an Independent Study in which the student is advised by a tutor but studies independently in the context of their regular working experience. It includes tutorial discussion on the nature of reflective practice, especially in a theological context; a specific agreement with the tutor on the aims of the reflection; at least sixty hours in the workplace; keeping a reflective practice diary and using support documents or equivalent; and taking part in a final seminar in which students present the substance and outcomes of their reflection.
Learning Outcomes i. Knowledge and Understanding
On successful completion of this module students will have:
a) understood the nature of reflective practice;
b) understood the nature of theological thinking in relation to secular spheres of work and thought;
c) a developed awareness of the relevance of theological thinking to specific issues arising in the workplace;
d) a deepened and broadened understanding of practical ethics and personal vocation.

ii. Skills
On successful completion of this module students will:
a) have an increased ability to apply theological thinking in relation to secular spheres of work and thought;
b) have an increased ability to think ethically in relation to secular spheres of work and thought;
c) have demonstrated increased self-critical ability in reflecting on their theological understanding and sense of values when faced with issues in the workplace;
d) have grown in their personal self-understanding;
e) have improved their interpersonal skills from building relationships with staff, and other members of the wider community.
