Brief Description

This module will enable participants to demonstrate effective professional practice in their discipline, informed by knowledge and understanding of appropriate theories of learning and research into teaching and learning. The learning environment for this module will be the participant's own area of work, and he/she will be supported by a Nurse Teacher/Lecturer.

Indicative Syllabus

  • Planning, implementing and evaluating teaching
  • Developing and using a range of teaching and learning techniques
  • The use of ICT in facilitating teaching and learning
  • Critical reflection upon professional practice and development·
  • Audit and action planning for CPD
Learning Outcomes

On completion of the module participants should be able to demonstrate that they:

i. have produced detailed plans for teaching and learning sessions/experiences, including planning for the needs of all learners
ii. have managed effectively a wide and appropriate range of teaching and learning methods, including consideration of online virtual learning environments, in order to work with large groups, small groups and one-to-one (academic and pastoral)
iii. have evaluated their own work with a range of peer, self and student monitoring and evaluation techniques
iv. have reflected upon their own personal and professional practice and development, assessed their future development needs, and made a plan for their continuing professional development.
