Brief Description

This double module addresses the establishment of a framework for personal practice within the subject area. Students undertake practical and contextual research to define and evaluate core issues central to their individual practice, with particular reference to content and process.

Indicative Syllabus

Students define the practical, experimental and theoretical contexts of their work, and establish a sustainable working procedure, appropriate study agreement and tutorials.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. identify languages and methodologies: select models of practice and effective working procedures appropriate to the development of resolved and innovative studio work.
  2. to research and develop work in both theoretical and practical fields, forming the rationale for the direction of their practice.
  3. carry out their Fine Art practice at an advanced level, aware of all pertinent technical, critical, imaginative and self-management issues.
  4. apply and refine the application of critical and contextual skills to their own practice and to that of others.
  5. demonstrate the ability to organise and self-manage a programme of work being fully responsible and aware of all technical and safety issues.
