Brief Description | The Creative Portfolio module requires students to assemble a collection of their best work. This substantial double module runs throughout the year and involves conceiving, planning and editing the 'book', in preparation of a successful career in the advertising industry. During the module, students will be expected to develop contacts with a number of agencies and industry professionals, to gain advise on the development of their work. |
Indicative Syllabus | Students work in teams as art directors and copywriters to assemble a finished portfolio of advertising. Each team will be encouraged to make contact with 'creatives' from the top agencies in London and elsewhere, to gain industry advise on their work. Projects will include a mix of self-initiated assignments and 'live' briefs set by industry professionals. Tutorials will be negotiated by students and module staff to support the successful completion of original work. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to: 1)Demonstrate the capacity to think both strategically and creatively, implementing concepts, visuals and communications within an industry standard portfolio. 2) Judge a range of creative approaches and be critically aware of audience perception, working both individually and as a part of a team. 3) Identify targets, organise resources, manage workloads and meet deadlines in order to achieve intended goals. 4) Carry out independent learning to support creative practice and enhance opportunities in the workplace. 5) Conduct research in a disciplined and rigorous way to achieve and develop appropriate creative campaigns. 6) Critically review their Personal Development Planning to develop effective strategies towards identifying and achieving personal, academic and career goals; have an advanced appreciation of the relationship between study skills, the acquisition of personal transferable skills and future employability. |
