Brief Description | A series of three 'real world' assignment briefs that introduce and develop key technical and creative approaches to photojournalism and documentary photography. |
Indicative Syllabus | Problem solving and planning for location photographic assignments. Introduction and analysis of a range of leading late 20 th century/contemporary photojournalism and documentary photography work. Further development of creative ideas generation and brief solving. Further development of location techniques, and planning for location work and projects. Workshops for developing the use of large format, and comparative camera formats for practical and creative approaches. Reviewing presentation strategies for photographic work. Producing and editing Digital Video. |
Learning Outcomes | p>A student passing this module should be able to:
1) Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of contemporary photojournalism and documentary photography practices including historic, technical and cultural influences. 2) Demonstrate confidence and competence in the use of a range of photographic equipment, including the appropriate use and selection of new technologies alongside traditional skills and production methodologies. 4) Understand the importance of effective planning and that skills and knowledge should be developed in an integrated and holistic manner; show they are capable of employing a range of skills within limited time constraints and under pressure to meet fixed deadlines. 5) Evaluate and reflect upon their technical photographic knowledge and skills in order to become an independent learner, and develop their range of technical skills, and transferable skills, to enhance their ‘employability’. |
