Brief Description | Students acquire the basic key technical skills and learn to apply them creatively in the following areas: contemporary digital imaging alternative darkroom practices Simple moving image |
Indicative Syllabus | This module aims to Introduce the contemporary use of creative digital practices in photography, including the introduction of moving image / animation, digital capture and output, retouching and composting using non-destructive techniques, file formats and the dissemination of images. The manipulation of images, exploring traditional alternative processes and digital image construction. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:
1) understand of the use of moving, altered and manipulated imagery in commercial and artistic forms. 2) demonstrate an ability to formulate creative ideas and make informed decisions concerning the selective use of digital and traditional techniques appropriate to achieving creative concepts and be able to adopt a methodical and documented approach to working. 3) demonstrate an ability to use critical analysis to make informed judgments and opinions about the creative, aesthetic and technical quality of their own and others' work 4) demonstrate self –motivation / direction, time keeping and presentation skills. To develop confidence and research skills, strong communication skills and take an active part in class debates. 5) understand the potential career and graduate progressions and demonstrate a sound knowledge of personal attributes, skills and abilities as they relate to professional employment or freelance employment. |
