Brief Description | This module introduces students to those aspects of business law which act as a framework for the management of business organisations and business practice, imposing particular duties on managers. |
Indicative Syllabus | Business liability in negligence for people, premises and products; professional negligence and the accountant; criminal law of health & safety; advantages and disadvantages of different forms of business organisations; formation of limited companies; financing, management and regulation of limited companies; law relating to companies in difficulty. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the legal environment in which accounting operates; (PLO1) 2. Evaluate and analyse arguments and scenarios and apply the law, drawing reasoned conclusions; (PLO5) 3. Find, extract and analyse data from a range of legal sources and reference these correctly; (PLO6) 4. Present information, together with analysis and argument, in a form which will be understood by its intended audience.(PLO8) |
